Keep in mind, our levels are double levels. So, it's ok if you child
needs to do the same level multiple sessions. Remember, each child works at a
different pace. Some skills come easily, and some take more time! When your
child is ready to move up, she will receive a move-up certificate. Otherwise,
please register for the same level.
Rec 1/2
This 60-minute (once per week) introductory class exposes students to
foundational gymnastics skills, body form & positions, strength, and
flexibility. Formerly called Rec 1/2, students progress at their own pace on all four Olympic
apparatus (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor) and well as TumblTrak. Major
skills required for promotion to the next level include (but are not limited
to):
- Vault: Run-Hurdle-Straight Jump-Stick
- Bars: Back Pullover (utilizing a wedge mat), 3 Cast Dismount, Cast-Back-Hip Circle
- Beam: Releve Walks, Arabesques, Stretch Jump
- Floor: Forward Rolls, Cartwheel, Backbends, Handstand Introduction
Rec 3/4
This 90-minute (once per week) class is designed to slightly increase the
training intensity placed on students while allowing them to continue to
progress at their own pace. New skills are introduced and skills
previously mastered in Shining Stars are polished. Major skills required
for promotion to the next level include (but are not limited to):
- Vault: Handstand -Tree Fall to 16' Mat
- Bars: Chin-Up Pullover, 3 Casts-Back Hip Circle, Single Knee Up Rise
- Beam: 3/4 Handstands on low beams, Pivot Turns, Jump Series
- Floor: Vertical Handstand, Backward Pike Roll, Backbend-Kickover on
wedge mats
Rec 5/6
This 90-minute (twice per week) class is geared toward introducing students
to the skills necessary for our Compulsory Level 3 Team Program without the
stress and anxiety of competition. Major skills required for promotion to
the next level or for invitation to our Competition include (but are not limited
to):
- Vault: Dive Roll
- Bars: Chin-Up Pullover (feet together), 1 Cast Back Hip Circle, Forward/Backward Leg Cuts, Mill Circle
- Beam: Handstands on higher beam, Split Jump, Level 3 Side Handstand Dismount
- Floor: Handstand Forward Roll, Round-Off, Backwards Roll to Pike
Stand, Split Leap
rec 7/8
This 90 minute class (twice per week) class is designed to give students the
opportunity to perfect Compulsory Level 3 Team skills and master Compulsory
Level 4 Team skills. Major skills required for promotion to
the next level or for invitation to our Competition include (but are not limited
to:
- Vault: Run, Punch, Handstand-Tree Fall
- Bars: Chin-Up Pullover, Mill Circle, Front Hip Circle, Shoot Thru
- Beam: Handstand, Jump Series, Level 4 Side Handstand Dismount
- Floor: Standing Back Handspring, Split Leap, Handstand Backbend Kickover
